Winemaker's Notes: Zinfandel represents the history and legacy of the foothills. We have been making Zin since 1981 under the house in Pollock Pines. We think that the best of Zin carries a Claret style in a medium-weight fashion with a lot of spicy – but not cooked – fruit.
Zin should be pleasing to the palette, not a bruiser. Ours finishes in the Dry Creek style with a host of raspberry and some smokiness. We think the medium-weight version is the easiest to enjoy with the kind of foods that Californians like – Tri-Tip, grilled chicken, garlicky pasta, spicy chorizo pizza, the list goes on and on.
We use a light touch on the oak and our minimalist winemaking style to show all of the Zin fruit character possible in the finished wine. These grapes are grown at the 3000 ft level in the Pleasant Valley area of El Dorado County. It snows on these vines folks!
Our Zin is drinkable now, but will show nicely for more than 4 years and peak in 2016. Most of all, we encourage you to share with your friends and enjoy!
