Winemaker's Notes: Petit Verdot creates a "spice box" element with dense fruit, dark color, powerful flavors, and heavy tannins and is occasionally, but rarely bottled anywhere as a stand-alone varietal. Brix can dictate an exception. Since this grape ripens late, its usefulness can be limiting due to rain and weather that inhibit a useful harvest but not in El Dorado County!
Malbec has characteristics that fall somewhere between Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The fruit of this wine jumps out of the glass with heavy scents of jammy violets and follows with a full mid-palette and a long seductive finish that you will not soon forget.
This wine internally was awarded our highest accolade as was bottled as Ascendance; the top of our mountain!!
