Winemaker's Notes: We opted not to produce a Port style wine in 2007 so in it place for this vintage we have a special Late Harvest Petit Sirah. The grapes come from the flawlessly farmed Duarte Vineyard in Georgetown where the sugars rose to 32' of brix when harvested. There was no reason to fortify this wine and the residual sugars ended up at 3'. This is a great base wine for Sangria!!
With absolutely no relationship to Syrah, Petite Sirah actually comes from the Durif grape aptly named after Francois Durif, a botanist from the University of Montpelier who discovered the Peloursin berry that contained the first Durif seed in 1880.
