Merlot is an ancient grape varietal originating from the western coast of France in the area famously known as Bordeaux. This grapes grows well in California and likes decomposed granite soils and being watered from above (by sprinklers in Ca). It carries a lovely Smooth and velvet texture including rich mouthfeel and finishes with a dusty cocoa aspect. This stunning wine is both textured and elegant. Don’t let Hollywood fool you, Merlot is a world class wine and we can prove it!

Edwin Hubble was a Meau-Faux who reached to the stars.

Crystal Basin is always seeking to identify and honor innovative leadership. We’ve created a way for us all to recognize and celebrate truly unique folks on their respective birthdays. Each month, Crystal Basin will select a special Meau-Faux who have made an indelible mark on the world in their own way.

This moniker is not to be taken lightly. It takes a LOT to be a Meau-Faux. You have to get up early, stay up late, and in many specific cases, be able to party like a rockstar. We know these personalities and what they stand for instantly. By calling our attention to these leaders, we hope you’ll be able to pull some essence of their spirit into you daily life. They are, quite simply, Meau-Fauxs.

We’re celebrating Edwin Hubble as our November Meau-Faux.

His telescope has helped our scientists learn more about the universe than any other inventor since perhaps Galileo. His ability to conceive and describe an ever-expanding universe opened up both minds and possibilities. We think Edwin Hubble is a Great Choice as the Meau-Faux of the month with his November 20th birthday.

George Orwell

Look, nobody is happy about it, but George Orwell got it right way back in the 1940’s when he tried to warn us. Those of us of a certain age read it in school and we subsequently noted the passage of the actual year 1984 with more than a bit of smugness that this sickly-looking alarmist had it all wrong.

All we can say is Oops.

Maybe time to get the Audible book fired up and revisit the messages from this visionary. Because of Orwell’s June 25th birthday – we declare that he is the Prophetic Meau-Faux for June.
